Project Overview
This particular project was a college workshop challenge that I particularly liked. The goal was to purchase a toy from a dollar store and redevelop it so it could be sold in a regular toy store at a profitable price. I chose a cheap capgun that came on a standard vacuum blister card (viewable in Slide 3).
To achieve the objective I took several steps to add value. First was to prime and repaint the toy using metallic paint. The half-circle box is an original creation of mine, and the gun is sealed in using the original blister I salvaged from its original package. Interesting type treatments and old Space Age watercolors from advertisements gave it an authentic 60's feel.

My Statement
An easy way to add value to an object is through one's perception of it. By making the product look like it was designed to be a collector's item, it immediately becomes one. I've always found Space Age design to be that perfect mix of beauty and cheese, and was thrilled to be able to finally create a piece using it.
